From one hemisphere to the other, wine consumption is DEVELOPING :

Qualitatively :
  • in Europe, from Greece to France, the table wine grapes, all uncertain mixtures from the past, are replaced by more refined grape varieties and hence wines.
  • tastes are becoming more sophisticated. Passions are growing.

You must therefore face realities and take the good steps to keep wine at home. No soft drinks fridges for wines:
  • drinking temperatures are essential for flavours to explode.
  • maturation temperatures are keys to a bright future for your bottles.

Even if it is not very new, let us remind you of the key factors to keep wine, by decreasing importance :

Real temperature
  • the key point: over 12° Celsius, you are almost sure that the wine quality will gradually diminish
  • below 0°C, again great danger
  • if you are not sure to stock your wines in a room where the temperature remains between these 2 levels, then go and acquire the adequate equipment.
  • take the heat waves years into account and SAFEGUARD your wine investment

Temperature fluctuations
  • from that respect, it is less crystal clear, moreover when the temperature fluctuates between 0 and 12°C
  • experience over many centuries shows that the best wines come from wine cellars with stable temperatures

Humidity levels
  • let's talk about the cork
  • the ancestors' choice for cork answers the question of adequate blocking of the bottle (no leaks) without total hermetism (bretahing)

Darkness
  • here science does support the matter
  • ultraviolet light damages wine

Ventilation
  • a fully enclosed room, hermetically sealed, is more sensitive to parasites like fungus
  • you can choose between a wine cabinet that you will clean on a winter day every 2 to 3 years and an artificially ventilated unit
  • you are lucky indeed: we offer BOTH

Vibrations
  • not a lot of scientific clues on this interesting subject
  • there must be some key vibration level above which your wine will suffer
  • like most good suppliers in our activity domain, we use high quality compressors, fitted on anti-vibration pads.

  HOW TO GENERATE COLD AIR?  

A universal system...

  • Refrigeration has not yet seen (...) the same revolution as microwaves have been to the cooking industry. For decades the same old principle: a closed circuit is created, a gas is injected once and for all, th gas is compressed and then de-compressed. This gradual d"ecompression absorbs calories and generate cold.
  • All refrigerators and cooling units operate this way, except a few very cost deficient examples (significantly higher power consumption).
  • Thanks to parameters variation (gas choice, pressure, etc...) you dedicate a system to a specific use (around -10°C for a freezer, +5°C for a fridge and +12°C for a wine cellar/cabinet).
  • But this technology without specific actions and systems generate a dry air ambiance, very detrimental to wine maturation (drying corks...) Only a manufacturer with specific know-how of the wine maturation will offer the adequate system for your bottles.
